Absalon Danish multi-purpose Warship

The Absalon is a formidable Danish warship that has been in service since 2004. It is named after the famous Danish Archbishop and warrior, Absalon, who played a crucial role in the establishment of the Danish monarchy. This modern warship is classified as a frigate and is one of the largest and most advanced ships in the Danish Navy. It measures 137 meters in length and has a displacement of 6,300 tons, making it a force to be reckoned with on the high seas.

Kit includes plastic hull, laser cut wooden strips, stern tube with shaft, rudder, kort nozzle, fittings set, plan and instruction manual.

The Absalon is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and weaponry, making it a versatile and powerful vessel. It has a combined diesel and gas propulsion system, allowing it to reach a top speed of 20 knots. The ship can accommodate a crew of up to 165 people, including officers, sailors, and a marine detachment. This highly trained crew works together seamlessly to operate the ship and carry out its missions effectively.

The 138 meter long command & support ship Absalon can perform a number of national and international task, including transportation of personal and material, command platform for land, air and sea operations. The ship also has a mine laying capacity. It also has the capacity to carryout humanitarian operations as a hospital ship. The ship is fitted with a 900 square meter flexible deck to perform in different operations and has a roll-on-roll-off (RO/RO) capacity aft.

The Absalon has during 2008, 2009 and 2010 participated in patrolling, and capturing pirates in the waters around Somalia.

One of the most impressive features of the Absalon is its versatile mission module system. This allows the ship to be quickly reconfigured to suit various mission types, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and humanitarian operations. The ship is also equipped with a helicopter hangar and a flight deck, allowing it to operate helicopters for surveillance, transportation, and search and rescue missions.

In terms of weaponry, the Absalon is armed with a variety of sophisticated weapons systems. It has a 76mm main gun, which can fire up to 85 rounds per minute and has a range of over 20 kilometers. The ship also has two 35mm rapid-fire cannons for close-range defense against incoming threats. In addition, it is equipped with Harpoon and Sea Sparrow missiles, as well as torpedo tubes for anti-submarine warfare.

The Absalon is also designed to be self-sufficient for long periods at sea. It has a large fuel capacity, allowing it to travel up to 9,000 nautical miles without refueling. The ship also has advanced communication and surveillance systems to ensure its safety and effectiveness on missions. It also has a hospital on board, providing medical facilities for both the crew and any potential casualties during humanitarian operations.

The Absalon has a long and impressive service record, having participated in numerous international operations and exercises. It has been instrumental in the fight against piracy in the Gulf of Aden and has also conducted operations in support of NATO and the European Union. The ship has also played a crucial role in disaster relief efforts, providing aid and assistance in the aftermath of natural disasters.
